Left to right: Walter Crossman (Miller Creek), Mrs. Gibson (from Central), Swedish "Count" Chuncy, Mamie Tamura (lived near Miller House up to Independence Creek. Later Walter Coosman lived there),Joe Ulmer (Old Timer at Central and famous "moocher". He was very intelligent and claimed to be a mining engineer. He was good company.)  All of these people are dead. Photo taken about 30 years ago in March 1940.  Identification statement from back of photo.

Note from Al Cook: Miller Creek was named by Oliver Miller in 1894. Miller House was built by Fritz Miller around 1895-6. J.F. Kelly owned Miller house for many years. Frank Miller became the owner in the 1936..

Note cultivated fields (center left), fox pens (upper right), areas under construction, store and bathhouse. It is similar to 80-P-02-06 in the Choate Collection, but was taken after the bathhouse was built.

They include Gulliand, another Mitchell - brothers?, Frank Miller (Miller House), Charlie Rogers (Circle Hot Springs), Bob Warren (Harrison Creek), Jimmie Muir (Deadwood), Harry Greep (Deadwood), Jens Langlow (Deadwood), Jack Kelly (Miller House) and possibly Mr. McNear who got a job hauling wood for the dredge.  Jens Langlow is on the far left in the back row holding his violin. Jack Kelly is the center man in the triplet at the center of the back row.

A.J. Child and son. A.J.  "Dad Child" had a store on claim #8 Above Discovery on Deadwood Creek. He died in 1916 of pneumonia and is buried on 8 Above.
